The Translator or The Special One

Before José Mourinho was The Special One, he was The Translator.

Think about that.

Same person. Same ambition. Same confidence. Same mind.

But viewed completely differently depending on who was looking at him and what chapter of his life they happened to witness.

That’s life.

You are going to be viewed differently by almost everyone you meet.

Some people will see what you are.

Some will see what you were.

Some will only see what they think you can become.

And some will never see it at all.

You don’t get to control that.

What you do control is who you decide to become.

At some point, you have to stop waiting for everyone else to recognize your potential.

Step into the arena.

Set the tone.

Repave the road if the existing one doesn’t take you where you want to go.

Mourinho didn’t spend his career trying to convince everyone he was more than a translator.

He became undeniable.

And eventually, the world had to call him something different.

The Special One.

Maybe the lesson isn’t about proving people wrong.

Maybe it’s about deciding who you are before everyone else figures it out.

They can call you whatever they want.

You choose the name you earn.
