Why I Love Being Perfect
Too many people are chasing this idea of a “perfect life.” Let’s be crystal clear—there is no such thing. But what you will experience are moments of perfection along your journey to becoming the most consistent high performer you can be. And that’s the real goal: to string together as many of those perfect moments as possible.
I tell my young soccer players this all the time: we’re not aiming for a perfect game or flawless practice. That’s not the point. What we are aiming for is a series of perfect moments—a perfect pass, a perfect track back, a perfect shot, a perfect save, a perfect decision. Stack those moments, and you’ll find yourself inching closer to whatever goal you’ve set in life.
Life is about tasting perfection. It looks different for everyone. But for high performers, it tends to feel the same—it’s about delivering optimal performance during the moments that matter most. That’s what defines us: being able to rise to the occasion so consistently that the big moments feel routine—because we’ve been there, we’ve done it, and we’re ready.
That’s why the pursuit of perfection fascinates me. It’s not about reaching it—because you never truly will. It’s about the growth, the discipline, and the rewards that come from chasing it. That’s what keeps us coming back season after season. And that season? It’s called LIFE! Now, go try and be perfect.
