7 Rules of Life
Master it, teach your kids, teach your athletes!
We spend so much time trying to figure everything out. Trying to control what happened yesterday, what people think about us, what tomorrow looks like, and whether we’re doing enough.
Maybe life gets a little better when we simplify it.
1. Make peace with your past.
You can’t change it. Learn from it, respect it, and don’t let yesterday steal from tomorrow.
2. Stop worrying about what people think.
Their opinion of you is their business. How you live your life is yours.
3. Take ownership of your happiness.
Don’t hand that responsibility to another person, a job, money, or circumstances.
4. Stop comparing.
Someone will always have more. Someone will always be ahead. Run your race. Comparison will rob you of everything that’s already good in your life.
5. Give it time.
Not everything needs to be fixed today. Some things only make sense after you’ve lived through them.
6. Stop thinking so much.
You don’t need every answer before taking the next step. Sometimes you just have to move.
7. Smile.
Life is heavy enough. You don’t have to carry every problem in the world.
Maybe the goal isn’t to have life completely figured out.
Maybe it’s to make peace with where you’ve been, be present where you are, and keep moving toward where you want to go.
Life moves fast. Enjoy some of it.
