Take the Space… ALWAYS
There were moments when I played college soccer where I would receive the ball with space in front of me and instead of taking a positive touch forward, I would hesitate, look to swing the ball back and play safe.
Now I did this;
Not because I did not see the space.
Because I was nervous.
Because I was afraid of making a mistake.
I chose safety over progress.
Now let me ask you something.
How many times in your life did you have space to move into but did not attack it because you were scared of the unknown
Scared of judgment
Scared of failing publicly
Scared of what happens if it does not work
Sports have always been the ultimate character and body armor factory for me. They expose fear instantly. They also teach you how momentum is actually created.
Here is what happens in soccer when you step into space.
The opponent has to shift
Midfielders get pulled
The block opens
Passing lanes appear
Your entire team moves forward behind you
This is how gaps are created.
This is how attacks start.
And this part matters most.
This is how coaches begin to trust you.
The crazy part is this.
The opportunities you are dreaming about
The confidence
The leadership
The trust
The respect
None of that starts with perfection.
It starts with one decision.
Take the space.
You do not need to know exactly how it ends.
You just need to move forward when the opportunity is there.
That applies on the field.
In business.
In parenting.
In relationships.
In life.
Hesitation keeps everything stuck.
Progress pulls others with you.
Take the space.
