Are You Still in the Restaurant Biz?

Nobody is really paying attention.

Everyone is in their own world.

That is not an excuse. That is your advantage.

This just happened to me.

I am at school drop off like I am every day. I am talking to another dad. Good shape. Trains. Someone I actually enjoy speaking with.

First thing he says

“How are the restaurants doing?”

I looked at him and said

“What do you mean?”

He goes

“Aren’t you in the restaurant business?”

Right there I realized something simple but powerful

He had no idea what I actually do today

Not the Life Time deal

Not HPLT

Not the summits

Not what we are building

And that is the point

You think people know

They do not

So instead of brushing it off, I leaned in

I explained everything. Clearly. Directly. No fluff.

A few minutes later he texts me

“Wow dude I had no idea. This is awesome. I thought you were still in restaurants. I am coming to the NYC summit.”

That is how fast things can change

One conversation

One moment

One decision to actually speak up

Here is the truth

People are not ignoring you

They are just busy

Their inbox is full

Their head is full

Their life is full

So if you are waiting for people to magically know what you are doing

You will stay invisible

When I was building The Ainsworth, I had young event coordinators who were afraid to follow up

They would say

“I emailed them twice and they did not respond”

I would tell them

Email them again

Then again

Because the fifth email is the one that gets read

And that fifth email turns into

A 400 person holiday party

A 75K night

Confidence

Momentum

Belief

Nothing changes if nothing changes

Closed mouths do not get fed

So here is the takeaway

Talk to people

Follow up

Send the text

Post the content

Shake the hand

Start the conversation

At drop off

On the train

At the coffee shop

Anywhere

You are always one conversation away

From a sale

From a relationship

From an opportunity

From a completely different trajectory

And one more thing

Do not be quiet about what you are building

Because nobody is paying attention

Until you make them pay attention
