THE REALITY GAP
For a long time, I thought I was doing enough.
I thought I was training hard enough, pushing myself enough, and doing everything necessary to achieve the results I wanted in the gym.
The brutal reality? I wasn't.
I wasn't training hard enough. I wasn't training smart enough. And I certainly wasn't eating the way I needed to.
I had convinced myself that my effort matched my expectations.
It didn't.
I call this The Reality Gap.
It's the distance between what we THINK we're doing and what we're ACTUALLY doing.
We create these false narratives in our minds that we're working hard, making sacrifices, and doing everything possible to achieve our goals.
But wanting results and doing what those results require are two very different things.
And this goes far beyond the gym.
What you intended to do doesn't determine your results. What you actually did does.
Start asking yourself a different question. Not "Did I try hard?" but "Did my actions actually match the results I say I want?"
Here's your challenge today.
Pick one area of your life where you're frustrated with your results.
Write down the result you want. Then write down exactly what you've done over the last seven days to achieve it. Not what you planned to do. Not what you think you did. What you actually did.
Now ask yourself one question:
If I repeated those same seven days for the next six months, would I get the result I want?
If the answer is no, you just found your Reality Gap.
Change one behavior today. Repeat it tomorrow. Let your actions become the evidence.
Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes.
